five months on-remembering

thanks to an amazing friend we have this video as a memory to a most unexpected new years eve. thank you so much Jen.

if you have a few minutes you might like to watch the talents of my beautiful gift of a friend Jeni as she videos 'a day in the life' - a once a month video project she is doing for her family. this day they were coming down from Brisbane to spend the day at limpinwood with us and celebrate the new year. the day took a turn which ended up with Matthew in hospital for just over 3 weeks and me trying to manage 6 children on my own made particularly harder because of our 2 month old twins who were still feeding through the night.
five months on and matthew is well on his journey of rehabilition, he has a brace which he only needs to wear occasionally now and is doing physio and pilates, but is still off work and will be for another 3 months as he works on reaching a full recovery.

how simple it is to see that all the worry in the world cannot control the future.
how simple it is to see that we can only be happy now.
and that there will never be a time when it is not now.

a little bit of paint goes a long way

2009
2012-bella working hard giving her desk a sand
jasmine and bella giving desk a paint over which of course ended up in giving each other a paint too
this little desk has been with us for a long time now
and bella has given it a fair beating with the last instalment being her using an entire packet of stickers to decorate it so when i suggested it needing painting she was more than happy to get in and help made even more fun with big sister helping also. yes, with two highly sensory personalities and a mama who was occupied elsewhere these two ended up with paint in all the wrong places..clothes, face, hair and legs. ahem- in my sleep deprived state i didn't see the funny side at the time...

but now we have a brand new desk for all that important playing, story-telling, drawing and set-ups that keep bella at her little station for all those hours.

from my desk

I have been stealing tiny pockets of time to do the teeniest bit of making. It's been a case of mental health care as I have been walking through this full-on season of double baby gorgeousness and life's ups and downs.

baby firsts

see those two little pearly whites...they came up together looking oh, so cute at the five month mark

and if you get your finger caught in there you'll be surprised to discover how sharp little baby teeth can be

a very long day

(iPhone photos)

home alone for a few days with six children half of which have coughs, sore throats and runny noses was made even more tricky by the following -
having to take Ryder to emergency at six thirty in the morning
being sent away
coming home to finish off lunches and grab school bags
take kids to school
driving in the car listening to Ryder breathe and whimper knowing something isn't right
on the mobile trying to get him into any doctor at a murwillumbah medical centre
get an appointment straight away
get sent straight to emergency for Ryder
back up to emergency for the second time today with four children in tow
Ryder gets an x-ray, is given steroids and oxygen and we are to stay overnight
Matthew races home from Brisbane to pick up kids from school and hospital and bring me much needed coffee

my oh my this was one of the looongest days i have had in a while

thankfully we get to go home the next afternoon with Ryder and [ruby now] needing a few more days of redipred. i drag out the vapouriser and use up the rest of the tinderbox's chesty rub.
i did have a trip to Sydney planned with the babies and the two eldest for the weekend which was cancelled while we tried to combat this nasty virus and recover from sheer exhaustion.
